Lawmatics Implementation FAQ

This integration allows clients to pay their invoices and/or trust deposits online using a credit/debit card or by bank transfer (ACH).
Your trust accounting is made simple by allowing you to collect client payments as a trust deposit or automatically request trust funds and have them applied directly to the client's trust account balance.
There are no setup or termination fees for using the Confido Legal integration, and you are also made clearly aware of all credit card fee rates. These fees are simple flat rates, and you also have the option to charge the fees to the client or take them on yourself.
Estimated timeline: 1 to 2 weeks for standard setup including invoice types, payment routing, and automation testing.
Connect your Confido Legal account to Lawmatics through the Integrations settings page.
Configure invoice types for each billing scenario: consultation fees, retainer deposits, flat fees, and trust replenishments.
Verify that payment routing directs trust deposits to your IOLTA account and operating payments to your operating account within Confido Legal.
Build payment-triggered automations in Lawmatics for each invoice type.
Run end-to-end tests by sending test invoices, completing payment, and confirming automation triggers fire correctly.
A strong Confido Legal integration only works when field mapping, workflow ownership, QA, and team training are designed together. MHSB typically scopes this work as part of a Lawmatics audit, implementation project, or post-launch optimization engagement.
Confido Legal is a law-firm-specific payment processor that integrates with Lawmatics to handle invoice delivery, payment collection, and trust account deposits. The integration lets your firm send invoices from Lawmatics with secure Confido Legal payment links, and trigger automations when clients pay.
MHSB configures this integration with the same rigor we apply to any billing workflow: invoice types mapped to your billing scenarios, trust and operating account routing verified before go-live, and payment-triggered automations tested end-to-end. For firms that prefer Confido Legal’s transparent flat-rate pricing over other processors, this integration provides the same automation capabilities.
Lawmatics creates and sends invoices with a Confido Legal payment link. Clients click the link, pay via credit card, debit card, or ACH on Confido Legal’s hosted payment page, and the payment status flows back to Lawmatics. When the payment is confirmed, any automation tied to that invoice type fires automatically.
The key differentiator for law firms is trust account handling. Confido Legal separates trust deposits from operating revenue at the processor level, routing funds to the correct bank account based on the invoice type. MHSB tests this routing during setup because a misconfiguration creates compliance risk that may not surface until reconciliation or a bar audit.
Confido Legal offers flat-rate processing fees with no setup or termination costs. Firms can optionally pass credit card processing fees to clients at the time of payment, subject to state bar rules. This pricing transparency is one reason firms choose Confido Legal over alternatives. MHSB helps you configure the surcharging option if your state allows it and your firm policy supports it.
Both are law-firm-specific payment processors. Confido Legal emphasizes transparent flat-rate pricing and the option to pass credit card fees to clients. The Lawmatics integration works similarly for both — invoice delivery, payment processing, and automation triggers. MHSB helps you choose based on your firm pricing preference and state bar rules on fee surcharging.
Yes. Each invoice type in Lawmatics can trigger its own automation, so a consultation fee payment and a retainer deposit payment can fire completely different workflows.
Yes. Confido Legal separates trust and operating deposits at the payment processor level. MHSB verifies the routing during setup so funds land in the correct bank account.
Yes. Confido Legal offers the option to pass credit card fees to the client at the time of payment, subject to your state bar rules. This is configured in your Confido Legal account settings.
